Occultist
The word 'occult' literally means 'that which is hidden'. So we could simply say that an occultist is anyone that studies knowledge that is not generally available. However, I think that is a case of accurate but not helpful. Occultism often attracts individuals seeking personal empowerment, deeper understanding of existence, or alternatives to mainstream religions. It's important to note that while occult practices are often seen as controversial or taboo, followers may approach them with a sense of spirituality, curiosity, or as part of a cultural heritage. Often associated with secret doctrines and ancient traditions, occultism encompasses various fields such as alchemy, astrology, divination, and esoteric mysticism. Practitioners of occultism believe in the existence of underlying spiritual forces and seek to understand and manipulate these forces to gain insight, wisdom, or power. This pursuit often involves rituals, symbols, and meditation techniques aimed at achieving personal transformation and enlightenment. While frequently tied to religious or mystical contexts, occultism is distinct in its focus on the hidden or the mysterious, inviting individuals to explore the unseen dimensions of existence beyond conventional understanding. Now I've just started studying this today (December 14 2024) so I'm still new to it so work with me here. I've just been extremely interested in it.
