Philosophy of Metaphysics

Metaphysics is what explores the question "What is the basic nature/essence of reality? Metaphysics deals for instance with how something exists such as nature, space, time even existence. It is not easy to say what metaphysics is. Ancient and Medieval philosophers might have said that metaphysics was, like chemistry or astrology. I've done tons of research on this and it seems to be a bit confusing. To keep this short The study of reality and existence, including the fundamental structure of reality, our place in the universe, and our purpose. Metaphysics is concerned with what cannot be reached through objective studies of material reality so would this mean that it could multiple things, or fall under multiple categories?
