Philosophy of Epistemology
Epistemology,is the branch of philosophy that studies the nature, origin, and limits of knowledge. It's also known as the theory of knowledge.
Epistemology is the field that concentrates on knowledge, belief and justification. Central questions are things like; What counts as knowledge?
What are the kinds of justification we have for the things we know? How do we get to know the things that we know? In everyday life, we usually don't bother thinking about how well we know things and how we can justify our beliefs.
Edit: Watched a video on it to find out more to me:
Epistemology is the philosophical study of knowledge, examining its nature, origin, and limits. It grapples with fundamental questions about what it means to know something, how knowledge is acquired, and the criteria that differentiate true knowledge from belief or opinion. Central to epistemology are concepts such as justification, which explores the grounds for our beliefs and claims to knowledge, and skepticism, which challenges our ability to know anything with certainty. Various epistemological theories, including empiricism—emphasizing knowledge derived from sensory experience—and rationalism—highlighting the role of reason and innate ideas—offer differing perspectives on how we understand and validate knowledge. This field not only influences philosophy but also impacts areas such as science, education, and ethics, as it addresses the foundational principles that guide our understanding of the world.
